Protective Order Criteria

The person seeking the protective order must have experienced physical violence or a threat to kill within the last thirty (30) days.

Relationship to qualify for a protective order MUST exist:

  • Legal Spouse
  • Common-Law Spouse
  • Blood-line connection (Blood Relative)
  • Mutual Parent
  • Member of Household
  • Ex-member of Household
  • Ex-spouse
  • Dating Relationship

Victim Services can only assist with the protective order if no dissolution of a marriage (pending divorce) is in effect.  If so, only an attorney can obtain a protective order.

The person needs to complete a protective order application with Victim Services with sufficient grounds (violent history of relationship) to qualify.
